Cost of sending out a letter goes up

Don't forget!! Cost of sending out a mail post letter goes up 2 cents today in Canada.

Canadians who still love sending out traditional "snail mail" will have to pay more as of today.

Canada Post is raising its mailing rates.

The cost of mailing a first-class letter, card or postcard within Canada will increase to 54 cents from 52.

Stamps to the United States are increasing by 2 cents to 98 cents, while letters to all other countries will cost $1.65, up by 5 cents.

The Crown corporation says those increases apply to items weighing up to 30 grams.

The increases have drawn criticism from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, which opposes "arbitrary prices increases" for what it calls undependable service.
